Common questions

All international students are encouraged to apply to the First admission round for the autumn and spring semesters. The first rounds:

  • occur many months before the start of a semester and give students the time they need to pay their tuition fees (if required), apply for and receive their residence permit (for non-EU/EEA students) and arrange for housing
  • contain the entire catalogue of courses and programmes offered in English.

The Second admission rounds occur just a few months before the start of the semester and are only recommended for students from EU/EEA countries who do not need a residence permit.

  • Non-EU/EEA students will most likely not have enough time to obtain their permit before the start of the semester.
  • Only a small part of the catalogue of courses and programmes offered in English are offered in the Second rounds.

The application deadlines depend on which application round you apply to, not what country you're from.

If you've applied to the First round, the deadlines are the same for all international students who apply. If you've applied to the Second round, your key dates are a few months later.

Be sure to find out what the exact dates are at Key dates and deadlines.

All admission rounds have their own special set of important dates for:

  • application deadlines
  • when transcripts and English test results must be received
  • when the application fee (if required) must be paid
  • admissions decisions
  • deadline for replying to admission offers (if a reply is required).

Please see Key dates and deadlines to find your admission round and your key dates.

All applicants are welcome to apply to the Second round if there are courses or programmes that interest them.

However, please not that the Second admission round process takes place just a few months before the start of the semester and is only recommended for students from EU/EEA countries who do not need a residence permit. Non-EU/EEA students will most likely not have enough time to obtain their permit before the start of the semester.
