If you've been offered admission in a course or programme but have decided not to attend, it's important that you decline your offer so that waiting list students can be awarded a place.

The process is a bit different depending on if you wish to decline your offer after the first or second selection round.

Declining your offer after the first selection round

All you need to do to not accept your offer after you've received your first notification of selection results is to answer 'No' on your application. You can do this right in your account here at Universityadmissions.se

Please note that if you don't answer your notification at all, your answer will be assumed to be no and that course or programme will be deleted for the second selection round. If you wish to keep your place, you must answer 'Yes'.

Declining your offer after the second selection round

If you wish to decline your offer after you've received your second notification of selection results, you can do so right here in your account at Universityadmissions.se. Simply follow the instructions given under 'Application' after you log in.

Declining your offer if you've submitted a late application or have been offered a place after being on the waiting list

If you've been offered a place later in the process - because you've been offered a place you're on the waiting list for, or your late application was reviewed - you can also decline your offer here on your account.

Why is it important that I decline my place if I don't want it?

There are applicants on waiting lists who are hoping to be offered a spot. When you decline the place you've been given, this makes it available to the waiting applicant. In this way, universities can get an early idea of which students will be attending their course or programme.

If I decline my place, can I later change my mind?

If you decline your place, the course or programme is deleted. If you're later interested in it, you must submit a late application - provided the course or programme is open for application.

The chances are slim that you'll be offered a place after declining it, so be sure of your decision before submitting it.

What if I've already started a course but don't want to continue? Should I decline on the website?

If you've already started a course - even just attended the first attendance meeting - you must contact the university to unregister. You cannot do this by declining on the website.
