Are you a citizen of a Nordic country (Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Norway)?

Yes — You are not required to pay application or tuition fees, but you must provide documentation that you are a citizen of an EU/EEA country. Please see Sabine's conversation with an admissions counselor for more information regarding EU/EEA students and documentation.

Do you have a permanent Swedish residence permit?

Do you have a temporary Swedish residence permit that was granted on the basis of something other than studies?

Are you a family member of a citizen of an EU or EEA country who has temporary or permanent right of residence in Sweden?

Are you applying for Third cycle (doctoral studies) in Sweden?

Do you have citizenship in a European Union (EU) country, European Economic Area (EEA) country, or Switzerland? (Please note that you must have citizenship — having temporary or permanent residence in an EU/EEA country or Switzerland does not exempt you from paying fees.)

Were you/will you be registered for a course or programme in Sweden when you submit your application?

Yes — Because of your registration status, you are not required to pay an application fee; however, registration status does not exempt students from paying tuition fees and, as such, you may still be required to pay them. Did you start a course or programme before 1 July 2011?

Yes — You may finish that course or programme without paying tuition fees. Please see Umaru ‘s conversation with an admissions counsellor for more information.

Have you applied/will you apply for a new course or programme that starts after 1 July 2011?

Are you are combining courses towards a degree (but are not officially registered in a programme)?

Yes — You may finish that course/courses without paying a tuition fee if you started before 1 July 2011. If you start a new course or courses after 1 July 2011, you will be required to pay tuition fees for that course/courses. Are you registered at a university or university college outside of Sweden and will be studying in Sweden on a temporary basis as part of an official study abroad programme as an exchange student?

Yes — You are not required to pay tuition fees. Please see Alison´s conversation with an admissions counsellor for more information.

If you have answered no to all of these questions, it is likely that you are required to pay application and tuition fees. Most applicants who are citizens of a country outside of the EU/EEA and Switzerland are required to pay fees.
