There are general instructions for all applicants; it is important that you start with Step 1 and then work your way through the remaining steps in order to submit the right documents in the right way.

Meeting the English requirement - bachelor's and master's level studies

You can meet the English requirement with your upper secondary studies with passing grades in English according to the information below.

If you’re documenting your English based on your upper secondary studies, you must provide upper your complete secondary documents in order to demonstrate you meet the requirement. Please submit your upper secondary documents as indicated below under ’For bachelor’s level studies’.

You can also demonstrate that you meet the English language requirement through certain university studies, or an internationally approved English test. Find out more at the following link:

Previous studies that meet the general entry requirements and any special documentation instructions

For bachelor's level studies:

Previous studies that meet the requirement: The National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) Exam Level 2 or Level 3, with at least 42 credits in total at Level 3. At least 14 credits in two different subjects, with 14 credits in 1-2 additional subjects. And;

  • A minimum of 14 credits in mathematics on Level 1
  • A minimum of 8 credits on level 2 in English or Maori (4 in reading and 4 in writing)

Documents required: Officially issued National Certificate of Education Achievement (NCEA) Exam Level 2 or Level 3, including all subjects and grades.

English language requirement: Passing grade in English listed in Form VI or Form VIII, or a minimum of 8 credits at Level 2 (4 in reading, 4 in writing).

Sixth Form Certificate or University Entrance Exam in 4-6 subjects

Documents required: Officially issued Sixth Form Certificate or University Entrance Exam, including all subjects and grades.

English language requirement: Passing grade in English listed in your final school grades.

Higher School Certificate or University Bursaries Exam in 4-5 subjects.

Documents required: Officially issued Higher School Certificate or University Bursaries Exam, including all subjects and grades.

English language requirement: Passing grade in English listed in your final school grades.

For master's level studies:

For entry to a Master's programme, the minimum requirement is a 3-year Bachelor’s degree. 

To document your eligibility, please submit your final transcript of record and Diploma.
